Migrate from Wix without losing rankings

Wix gets a site online fast, then keeps it there. We rebuild yours in Astro or Next.js with Sanity or Payload: the same design or a refresh, your posts and pages moved across, every URL kept or redirected, and code you own outright.

Signs you have outgrown Wix

Wix is an easy place to start. These are the moments teams tell us it stopped fitting.

  • There is no way to take the site with you

Wix has no full-site export. Pages, posts and products stay inside Wix, and the longer the site runs, the more there is to rescue.

  • URLs and sitemaps are set for you

Blog posts sit under a fixed prefix, the sitemap is generated without your say, and structured data stops at what the settings panel offers.

  • Every feature is another app

Bookings, stores, members, translations and forms each come from an app, and many of them carry their own subscription on top of the plan.

  • Custom work only runs on Wix

Anything beyond the editor means Velo, Wix’s own code platform. It works, but it ties every custom feature even tighter to Wix.

  • Pages carry the whole platform

Every page loads the scripts that power the editor and its apps, whether the page needs them or not. Mobile visitors feel it first.

What happens to your Wix apps

Pick what your site uses today. Each app becomes part of the site itself, moves to a service you choose, or turns out not to be needed.

  • Wix BlogPosts in Sanity or PayloadEvery post, category, author and image moves by script through the Wix Blog API, with rich text converted and internal links rewritten.
  • Wix FormsA form built into the siteValidated on the server, filtered for spam and sent to your inbox, CRM or Slack. Automations keep working by webhook.
  • Wix SEO settingsSEO fields in the CMSTitles, descriptions, social images, canonicals and structured data are edited next to the content. Sitemaps are generated with every build.
  • URL Redirect ManagerRedirects in the configEvery old URL, including each /post/ address, is mapped to its new home in the hosting config, versioned with the code.

What changes when you leave Wix

Astro and Next.js decide how pages are built. Sanity and Payload are where your team edits. We recommend a pair after the audit.

How we move a Wix site

Your Wix site stays live until the new one is ready. The switch is a DNS change, not a weekend of downtime.

  1. Audit

We crawl every URL, list every app, form and embed, and export your rankings, so nothing is lost by accident.

  2. Content model

Pages, posts, collections and products become a clean schema in Sanity or Payload, shaped around how your team actually edits.

  3. Content import

Blog posts move through the Wix Blog API, and everything Wix cannot export is taken from a crawl of the live site. Images are re-uploaded and links rewritten.

  4. Front end

We rebuild the design in Astro or Next.js: the same look, or a refresh if one is due. Every template is checked against the old one.

  5. Redirects and launch

Every old URL gets a permanent redirect to its new address. Metadata, sitemaps and structured data are compared before the DNS switch.

  6. Handover

Your team gets a walkthrough of the new editor. Then the Wix plan and its apps can be cancelled.

Questions about leaving Wix

  • Not if the move is planned. Every URL keeps its address or gets a permanent one-hop redirect, and titles, descriptions, social images and structured data are carried over. Wix gives blog posts predictable /post/ addresses, which makes the redirect map straightforward.

  • Blog posts come through the Wix Blog API, which reaches every post, not just the 20 latest that the blog feed shows. Pages, galleries and anything else without an API are taken from a crawl of the live site, then cleaned up and checked by hand.

  • Yes. We rebuild the design component by component and check every template against the live site. If the design is due a refresh, the migration is a good moment for it.

  • Yes. Editors build pages from approved blocks with live preview, and in Sanity they can click any text on the preview to edit it. What they lose is dragging elements anywhere on the page, which is usually what pulls pages off brand.

  • We scope them one by one. Forms are built into the site. Bookings and shops usually move to a dedicated service such as a scheduling tool or Shopify, connected to the new front end. The audit tells you what moves where.

  • Another builder swaps one set of limits for a new one. With your own code and CMS, URLs, redirects, sitemaps and structured data are yours to shape, and the site can move host without a rebuild. If a builder is still the right fit for you, the audit will say so.

  • It depends on the number of pages, posts and apps. After the audit you get a fixed scope and timeline, and the Wix site stays live until launch day.
