Migrate from Webflow to Next.js or Astro
We moved our own site off Webflow, all 164 URLs of it. We can do the same for yours: the same design rebuilt in Next.js or Astro, your collections moved to Sanity or Payload, and code you own outright.
Celerart (opens in a new tab)Signs you have outgrown Webflow
Webflow is a great place to start. These are the moments teams tell us it stopped fitting.
The bill grows with your team
Every editor seat, every locale and every plan tier is another line on the invoice, and each pricing change lands on you mid-contract.
The CMS hits its ceiling
Item caps, collection limits and reference fields that only go one level deep. The content model bends around the plan instead of the business.
Every site ships webflow.js
Interactions and jQuery load on every page, whether the page uses them or not. Your Core Web Vitals pay for features you never added.
Your code lives on their servers
Code export leaves the CMS behind, and the site only runs on Webflow hosting. Leaving later only gets harder as the content grows.
Logic that needs a third-party tool
Gated content, calculators, account areas and API integrations each mean another script, another vendor and another monthly fee.
What happens to your Webflow features
Pick what your site uses today. Each feature becomes part of the site itself, or turns out not to be needed.
- CMS collectionsSanity schemas or Payload collectionsEvery collection, field and reference moves by script through the Webflow API, with rich text converted and images re-uploaded.
- InteractionsRebuilt in codeScroll and hover effects are rebuilt with CSS or GSAP, loaded only on the pages that use them, and respect reduced motion.
- Webflow FormsA form built into the siteValidated on the server, filtered for spam and sent to your inbox, CRM or Slack. Your Zapier or Make flows keep working by webhook.
- LocalizationBuilt-in localisationTranslations live per field or per document in Sanity or Payload, with their own URLs and hreflang. No per-locale fee.
- Finsweet AttributesNative filters and sortingCMS filters, load more and nested lists become plain components, with no extra script on the page.
- Memberstack / OutsetaAccounts in your own appLogins and gated content run in Next.js with the auth provider you choose. We scope this per project.
- Webflow Analyze / OptimizeAnalytics with consentGoogle Analytics or a privacy-first alternative, with A/B tests through a tool you control.
- 301 redirects panelRedirects in the configEvery old URL is mapped to its new home in the hosting config, versioned with the code.
- Webflow EcommerceCommerce, scoped separatelyShops move to Shopify or another commerce platform behind the same front end.
What changes when you leave Webflow
Next.js and Astro decide how pages are built. Sanity and Payload are where your team edits. We recommend a pair after the audit.

Sites we've already moved
Different stacks for different jobs: a law firm on Next.js and Payload, a residential launch and our own studio on Astro and Sanity.

WordPressNext.js + Payload
An Austin trial litigation firm. Practice areas, matters and insights are Payload collections, and every page is pre-rendered and served from the edge.

How we move a Webflow site
Your Webflow site stays live until the new one is ready. The switch is a DNS change, not a weekend of downtime.
Audit
Audit
We crawl every URL, list every collection, interaction, form and embed, and export your rankings, so nothing is lost by accident.
Content model
Content model
Collections and fields become a clean schema in Sanity or Payload, without Webflow’s caps, shaped around how your team actually edits.
Content import
Content import
Collection items move by script through the Webflow API. Rich text is converted, images re-uploaded and internal links rewritten.
Front end
Front end
We rebuild the design in Next.js or Astro, pixel for pixel or with a refresh if one is due. Interactions are rebuilt in code.
Redirects and launch
Redirects and launch
Every old URL gets a permanent redirect to its new address. Metadata, sitemaps and structured data are compared before the DNS switch.

Your team gets a walkthrough of the new editor. Then the Webflow site plan can be cancelled.
Questions about leaving Webflow
Not if the move is planned. Every URL keeps its address or gets a permanent one-hop redirect, and titles, descriptions, Open Graph images and structured data are carried over. We did exactly this for the 164 URLs of our own Webflow site.
Yes. We rebuild the design component by component and check every template against the live site. Interactions are recreated with CSS or GSAP, and only load where they are used.
By script, through the Webflow Data API: every collection, item, reference and image. Rich text becomes structured content in Sanity or Payload, so it can be reused across pages.
Yes. Editors build pages from approved blocks with live preview, and in Sanity they can click any text on the preview to edit it. What they lose is the freeform canvas, which is usually what keeps pages on brand.
Forms are built into the site and sent to your inbox, CRM or Slack. Zapier and Make flows keep working through webhooks, and anything Webflow needed a third-party script for can run as server code.
Yes, we design and build Webflow sites too. If Webflow is still the right fit for your team, the audit will say so.
It depends on the number of pages, collections and integrations. After the audit you get a fixed scope and timeline, and the Webflow site stays live until launch day.
