Migrate from Framer to Next.js or Astro
Framer has no code export, so leaving means a rebuild. We rebuild it faithfully: the same design and animations in Next.js or Astro, your CMS moved to Sanity or Payload, and code you own outright.
Yegparian PLLC (opens in a new tab)Signs you have outgrown Framer
Framer is a great way to launch a beautiful site fast. These are the moments teams find it stops fitting.
The CMS hits its caps
Collection and item caps on every plan, paid add-ons to raise them, and large collections that fail to publish with a “module too large” warning.
Every language is another fee
Localisation is billed per locale. Adding markets means adding line items, not just translations.
The site only runs on Framer
There is no HTML or code export. Your site, your content and your URLs all live on Framer hosting, and leaving only gets harder as they grow.
The site needs real logic
Gated content, account areas, calculators and API integrations end up as embeds, workarounds and another vendor for each.
Developers can’t work in it
No Git, no code review, no tests. Once engineers join, the site sits outside the workflow the rest of your product uses.
What happens to your Framer features
Pick what your site uses today. Each feature becomes part of the site itself, or turns out not to be needed.
- CMS collectionsSanity schemas or Payload collectionsWe pull your CMS content out by API or by crawling the live site, then import every item with its fields, images and links.
- Animations and effectsRebuilt in codeAppear, hover and scroll effects are rebuilt with CSS, GSAP or Motion, loaded only where they are used, and respect reduced motion.
- Components and variantsA component library in codeEach Framer component and its variants become a typed component your editors can drop into pages as a block.
- Code componentsReused in the new siteFramer code components are React, so they can often move into Next.js, or into Astro as islands, with small changes.
- Framer FormsA form built into the siteValidated on the server, filtered for spam and sent to your inbox, CRM or Slack. Your Zapier or Make flows keep working by webhook.
- LocalizationBuilt-in localisationTranslations live per field or per document in Sanity or Payload, with their own URLs and hreflang. No per-locale fee.
- A/B testing and analyticsAnalytics with consentGoogle Analytics or a privacy-first alternative, with A/B tests through a tool you control.
- Framer pluginsReplaced case by caseMost plugins become a few lines of code or a feature of the CMS. The audit lists each one and what replaces it.
- RedirectsRedirects in the configEvery old URL is mapped to its new home in the hosting config, versioned with the code.
What changes when you leave Framer
Next.js and Astro decide how pages are built. Sanity and Payload are where your team edits. We recommend a pair after the audit.

Different stacks for different jobs: a law firm on Next.js and Payload, a residential launch and our own studio on Astro and Sanity.

How we move a Framer site
Your Framer site stays live until the new one is ready. The switch is a DNS change, not a weekend of downtime.
Audit
Audit
We crawl every URL, list every collection, component, animation, form and plugin, and export your rankings, so nothing is lost by accident.
Content model
Content model
Collections and fields become a clean schema in Sanity or Payload, without Framer’s caps, shaped around how your team actually edits.
Content import
Content import
We pull your CMS content out by API or by crawling the live site. Rich text is converted, images re-uploaded and internal links rewritten.
Front end
Front end
We rebuild the design in Next.js or Astro and check every breakpoint against the live site. Animations are rebuilt in code, frame by frame.
Redirects and launch
Redirects and launch
Every old URL gets a permanent redirect to its new address. Metadata, sitemaps and structured data are compared before the DNS switch.
Handover
Handover
Your team gets a walkthrough of the new editor. Then the Framer site plan can be cancelled.
Questions about leaving Framer
Not if the move is planned. Every URL keeps its address or gets a permanent one-hop redirect, and titles, descriptions, Open Graph images and structured data are carried over and checked before launch.
Yes. We rebuild the design component by component and compare every page with the live site at each breakpoint. Animations are recreated with CSS, GSAP or Motion, and only load where they are used.
We pull your CMS content out by API or by crawling the live site: every collection, item and image. Rich text becomes structured content in Sanity or Payload, so it can be reused across pages.
Often, yes. They are React components, so they can usually move into Next.js, or into Astro as islands, with small changes. Anything tied to Framer’s own APIs is rewritten.
Yes. Editors build pages from approved blocks with live preview, and in Sanity they can click any text on the preview to edit it. What they lose is the freeform canvas, which is usually what keeps pages on brand.
Forms are built into the site and sent to your inbox, CRM or Slack. Zapier and Make flows keep working through webhooks, and anything that needed an embed or a plugin can run as server code.
It depends on the number of pages, collections and animations. After the audit you get a fixed scope and timeline, and the Framer site stays live until launch day.
